Delivering Medication to Maar
In April, we launched our #rainorshine campaign and thanks to our amazing digital community were able to fundraise over $16,000 for our immediate needs. We couldn’t have done this without the support and compassion of all our donors and friends. Because of them, we can provide our clinic with the necessary medical supplies before the rainy season comes!
Sincerest thanks to everyone who joined us on Facebook Live, donated, and helped share our fundraiser!
So what happens now?
Since time is of the essence, the moment we secured the funds for purchasing the medications we made them available to our Country Director, Peter, so he can start the purchasing process. Peter has traveled to Juba to visit the pharmacy and get an official quote for medications needed at our clinic in Maar.
After presenting the final budget to the SSHCO Board of Directors, they have approved the amount. Now Peter will purchase the medications and transport them from Juba via car to our clinic in Maar. The drive from Juba to Maar is a full day of traveling if there are no bumps in the road —figurative and literal bumps!
The medications will treat hundreds, even thousands of patients seen at our clinic from May to December 2020. These medications are critical to the health and wellbeing of women, children and men we serve. Without the funds we raised with your help, patients would go without health care for seven months. Lack of medication and treatments would lead to serious illness and even death.
The Continued Impact
Because we doubled our fundraising efforts, we can restock as soon as the rainy season ends. This means we can continue providing lifesaving treatments to our patients all year long.
South Sudan continues to be impacted by everyday circumstances. This is why SSHCO has made it our mission to continue providing Maar with improved levels of health care, now and into the foreseeable future.
Our mission doesn’t just stop here. With the ongoing support of all of you, anything is possible!
