Help Us Fill The Gap!
It should come as no surprise to our supporters that SSHCO’s operations have been impacted by the current global health crisis.
SSHCO has been operating for more than 12 years, and in that time, together with our donors, we have achieved great things.
Many of our donors and supporters first connected with SSHCO through the encouragement of our passionate Co-founder, Jacob Atem Ph.D
Typically, Jacob spends time focusing on clinic operations while traveling the U.S. for speaking engagements and raising money for SSHCO. As a matter of fact up until 2019 SSHCO participated in very few other fundraising efforts. Though we are working hard to implement new ways of fundraising, this remains the main source of donations for SSHCO.
Now we are working to “Fill the Gap” from the inability to raise finds how we have in past years. Leaving us with a $18,000 gap and need.
Jacob’s story and journey is one of sorrow and resilience. His passion for helping others and his infectious personality draw many supporters into the mission and vision of SSHCO.
Due to travel restrictions, sheltering in place, and the CDC recommendations for the health and safety of our great nation, SSHCO has paused all in-person speaking engagements until further notice. As you can imagine, this has been detrimental to SSHCO’s fundraising ability for operational costs in 2020.
SSHCO is shifting gears and looking for other ways of making up for the financial loss we are facing due to the inability of hosting speaking engagements and other events with Jacob.
Now through August, we will campaign to fill the gap in funding. The campaign goal is to raise $18,000. This fundraising effort will allow SSHCO to cover operational costs for the organization. These costs are vital for keeping the clinic up and running, as well as for allowing a continuous move toward our vision: To make the village of Maar the shining example of sustainable development in South Sudan.
Please consider donating to this fund today.
We also are offering the opportunity for churches and companies to host virtual fundraising events benefitting SSHCO. We are hopeful this will allow Jacob to continue sharing his story and connecting with returning and new supporters as he typically would in person.
