SSHCO Distributes Mosquito Nets to Combat Deadly Diseases
SSHCO is happy to share we received 740 bales that contained 37,000 mosquito nets from Population Services International (PSI). These nets are vital to the health and safety of individuals living in South Sudan, and according to the UNHCR a mosquito net is a simple, cost-effective way to prevent deadly disease.
In response to the floods in South Sudan and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of individuals, SSHCO has set up three mobile clinics in the Mangalla Humanitarian Site. As of now SSHCO is the only NGO in this region operating on the ground.
Because SSHCO is the only NGO on the ground in Mangala, PSI donated the nets for us to distribute throughout the region.
Our team on the ground in South Sudan distributed 15939 mosquito nets within the first two days.
The distribution will require SSHCO to designate funds towards the process of distributing but it is well worth it. Our mission is that SSHCO exists to improve the health and well-being of South Sudanese people so that they may have hope and prosperity.
Distributing these nets to the region will help us provide the people of this region in South Sudan a layer of security in their homes as they sleep. These simple mosquito nets provide life saving protection from illness such as Malaria, which is especially high risk during the rainy season.
